ART BATTLE
Identification of Central Asian countries
November 26-30, 2019
Tashkent, Uzbekistan
About project
In the development of contemporary art in Central Asian countries, an important role is played by the need to comprehend the rich centuries-old traditions of the region. The traditional culture, art, poetry and philosophy of Central Asia served as a rich source of inspiration for the creators of national culture in the states of the region. Now these approaches and practices are receiving a new, critical rethinking.
Contemporary art is more conceptual, and uses a wide range of graphic tools and technological capabilities, aimed primarily at a person's knowledge of himself and his place in the world. This is an art that is built on the generation of new ideas, concepts and forms of expression, and which seeks to pose questions rather than give learned answers.
Central Asia has always been a crossroads of various cultures, peoples, religions and languages, a space where dialogue has been ongoing. Due to political conditions, this space turned out to be divided into separate states, each of which lives in its own world and according to its own rules, but we all have a lot in common. And we are not interested in how and how our neighbors live.
